Public transport 

Malta Public Transport company is the country’s bus operator. Bus tickets cost €1.50 during winter and €2.00 during summer if you pay in cash. Tickets are valid for 2 hours. 

A temporary travel card is also available for purchase. It is a more cost-effective way of roaming the island by bus during your stay. The 7-day Explore card offers unlimited day and night travel for €21 for adults and €15 for children. A 12 journey-single-day card is also available for €15. This card is valid for a year and can be shared. Regular commuters have the option of registering for a personalised Tallinja card and can top up at their convenience.The same bus cards and tickets can be used in Gozo as well.

The Tallinja app, available for iPhone and Android users, offers real-time bus tracking, locates the nearest bus stop, plans your journeys and allows you to check and top-up your balance. 

Taxi Services

There are several private taxi service providers in Malta. The fare depends on distance to destination and the size of vehicle required. 

Car Rental 

Cars can be rented through several companies, a number of which are found at the Malta International Airport. Prices depend on the size of vehicle required and preferred model. 

Gozo Ferry 

Gozo Channel offers ferry services between Malta and Gozo every 45 minutes. The ferry departs from Cirkewwa and lands in Mgarr Harbour in Gozo and vice versa. The trip lasts around 25 minutes. More information can be found here.

Valletta Ferry Services offer trips between Valletta and Sliema as well as between Valletta and the Three Cities.  Further information can be found here.
