Weekly Overview: Cultural Events 20 – 25 March

A selection of cultural events taking place this week in connection with the EU Presidency.

Tenishia holds his own as the most successful DJ/Producer in Malta and has ranked in DJ MAG’s top 100 DJs for 5 years in a row. As part of his world-spanning tour, Tenishia will be performing at Zhenjiang, China, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Sky Garden Bali. The events will be open to the public. 

Starting 22 March: Gozo – Faces of Culture – Daniel Cilia

This exhibition seeks to present the colours of life on the island of Gozo as a unique Mediterranean experience. It is inspired by the stories of the Gozitans; by their lifestyle and their history. As part of a cultural programme that focuses on bringing the citizen to the forefront, this exhibition fits right in with its focus on the Gozitan way of life. This event will take place at the Committee of Regions building in Brussels. 

24 – 26 March: Colours in Motion

The Grand Master’s Palace was picked as the official venue of the 2017 Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This multimedia art-piece by Ruben Zahra will be projected on the facade of this splendid palace, accompanied by a soundtrack with recorded texts from 28 Member States of the European Union and will include visuals and 3D mapping projections. This event will be open to the public. 

Starting 24 March: IN TRANSIT

IN TRANSIT is a collective, travelling exhibition of contemporary media art by Maltese artists, focusing on the diverse applications of the digital medium, and curated by Vince Briffa. This exhibition acts as a snapshot of local media art sensibility within the broader, international perspective. It will be taking place at NRW-Forum in Dusseldorf, Germany.
