About

Background

Created by a decision of the representatives of the governments of the Member States on 12 May 1960, the Special Committee on Agriculture (SCA) is composed of senior officials responsible for agricultural policy. The Committee usually meets once a week, and the European Commission participates in all SCA meetings.

Every rotating Presidency invites the representatives of the SCA for an official meeting in their Member State. This meeting is held in parallel to the Informal Meeting of Agriculture Ministers.

Aim

The SCA prepares the work of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, notably all files relating to the Common Agriculture Policy. SCA delegates will also be participating in the Informal Meeting of Agriculture Ministers to be held in Valletta on 23rd May 2017.
